Field Notes

Check water troughs not overflowing all fields when moving. Check fencing.

Stable Paddock and Corner Paddock

  • Keep Gate Open between fields
  • Close clip hook on the wooden gate by track
  • Always feed haylage – use haynets & 1 hay hutch in -corner paddock
  • Empty haynets when horses moved.
  • In morning bring in all horses from fields and stable 2 per stable.

Field A

  • Keep electric gates open onto track from field A
  • Check track open all the way up to corral
  • Check haylage fenced off safely
  • Fix solar panel (located in apple store) to electrics (remove when horses leave field). See page on how to set-up.
  • Check electric gates closed at bottom into B
  • Hay hutches – see page “Hay Hutch Start Position” in Grazing section.

* When turning out for the first time, follow horses down the track and close the electric gates. Wait for them to frolic – when they settle (5-12 minutes), then open gates.

Field B

  • Open electric gates so water trough accessible & track closed into A & beyond large water trough
  • Open electric fence at top end of field into track
  • Check electric gates closed at bottom into A & C
  • Hay hutches – see page “Hay Hutch Start Position” in Grazing section.

 

Field C

  • Check slip rails are closed into bonfire area
  • Check gates x 2 closed into pond paddock
  • Check electric gates closed at bottom of field into B
  • Hay hutches – see page “Hay Hutch Start Position” in Grazing section.

Pond Field

  • Check haylage pen is secure & set up solar panel to electrify pen. See page on how to set-up.
  • Check footpath x 2 gates closed & notices are on them
  • Check wooden gate into Field C is closed
  • Open Metal gate into track and fix so always open.
  • Hook open little gate into corral
  • Hay hutches – see page “Hay Hutch Start Position” in Grazing section.

School Field

  • Electric fence the Haha with solar panel (located in apple store) – See page on how to set-up.
  • Check electric fencing into round pens are closed
  • Close little wooden gate with clip hook by corral.
  • Close black metal gate with clip hook
  • Open gates from school field into Field C – i.e. closing track.
  • Open school field gate, into track, 90 degrees, so track is closed.
  • Open gate from track to corral
  • Open gate from corral into Field C.

I.e. the horses can walk, from C, across the track, into the school field, then out of the school field gate, into the corral and back into Field C. i.e. a complete circuit, without entering the track.

Keep very sharp eye on school and corral fencing (chewing) – if ONE bite, must tell Sarah immediately.
