January

Freezing Conditions: Check horse water troughs not frozen. Use brick to break ice.

WD40 all clips on lead ropes that attach to head-collars..

February

Wash, repair and put away heavy weight rugs. Wash asap & do at night.

Day & Evening Stables – Clean Marks on Walls (see page “Cleaning Stables”)

Horses – Check Horse temperatures / behavior – to see if need medium weight rugs. (i.e. getting too hot, rubbed manes & biting their own rugs & itchy behaviour)

March

Wash Windows (see “How to Clean Windows”)

Wash, repair and put away medium weight rugs.

Wheelbarrow Tyres– Blow up (ask Sarah)

Weed / spray weedkiller on weeds in Yard / Midden Area

At end of hunting, remove hay nets from lorry.

Horses – Check Horse temperatures / behavior – to see if need medium weight rugs. (i.e. getting too hot, rubbed manes & biting their own rugs & itchy behaviour)

April

Oats – Decrease / Assess – Ask Sarah (1 scoop)

Jetwash Lorry

All rugs off (weather dependent)

Reduce quantity of oats, as grass coming through.

To help – watch girths if size changes & if not hungry.

Wash, repair and put away rugs.

End of April – all rugs put away, repaired, reproofed and write wish list for next winter (if required).

Also, if bird nests found in stables 1-8 relocate to holly bush, immediately.

 

May

1st May – Evening Stables 5-8 – see “Stable System” for what to do. 

Hot weather – put suncream on white noses to prevent burning. If burnt, use wound powder or traumeel gel.

Look for Ragwort – remove before flowers & sets seed.
